Много е тъпо да се говори за задължителни книги и такива, които трябва да прочетеш, защото иначе все едно нищо не си чел или както там е клишето. Но подобни списъци служат за ориентир и, в случая с фантастиката, е интересно да се сравняват американски и британски такива.
"Гардиън" представя 1000 "задължителни" книги и от тях 149 са фантастични. Веднага се вижда, че не фенове на чистите НФ и фентъзи са участвали в създаването на списъка, защото мейнстрийм писатели и техните опити в жанра са изглежда по-важни от произведения на големи фантасти. Иначе значими за жанра текстове, като например разказите на Кордуейнър Смит и романите на Фармър, Зелазни и Стърджън, щяха да са част от него.

Ако препоръчваш някоя от тия книги за Човешката - все едно дали като наша или посестрима, - прати списъче на poslednorog-а. Време ни е да мислим и за класиките. ;)
(Аз тия дни се чудя дали да не спретнем едно ново издание на приказките на Оскар Уайлд...)
